Start with the type of app, because on this page it decides more than any picture does. Seven of the eleven are catalogues you browse: Backdrops, Abstruct and Walli of still images, Zedge, Wallcraft and Backgrounds HD adding live or video wallpapers, and 4K Wallpapers - Auto Changer a still-image catalogue with a changer. The range is the Play maximum across everything the app sells, not what you are asked to pay: the $399.99 ceilings on Zedge and Tapet are not named on either developer's site, and Tapet's terms say its donations buy no features. Only one developer prints a subscription price anywhere it controls, Zedge's blog at $4.99 a month; Backdrops, Walli, Pixel 4D, Abstruct, Tapet, Wallcraft and OGQ print none. Muzei's listing adds the other practical limit, that third-party sources need battery optimisation disabled or they stop loading artwork. Only Wallpaper Engine declares "No data collected". Four print "Data can't be deleted": Muzei, Pixel 4D, Abstruct and 4K Wallpapers - Auto Changer. Every line is the developer's declaration to Google, read 24 September 2026, not an observed behaviour. The ratings in the table are country-weighted reads from the United States storefront, which is why Muzei's 3.4 and Tapet's 3.9 should not be compared against a figure read on another storefront or quoted by a roundup; how Play builds the average is set out on How to read Google Play star ratings and reviews before you install an app. Panels, the paid wallpaper app that roundups named through 2025, returned no listing in a United States Play search on 23 September 2026, and neither did Rainpaper, which is why neither is on this page; the eleven that are begin at the top of the comparison.

No. The developer's own Android page, read 23 September 2026, says the Android app cannot directly access the Workshop to download new wallpapers and that a collection must be transferred wirelessly from Wallpaper Engine on a computer. The Android app itself is free, carries no Contains ads label, lists no in-app purchases and declares no data collected, but the Windows application is sold separately on Steam. Without it the Android app has nothing to show.
Both halves are true and belong together. Tapet's listing carries no Contains ads label, its site says No tracking, no ads, and free, and its terms say it is free to use with optional one-time purchases, subscriptions and donations that buy no features. The same listing prints in-app purchases of $0.99 to $399.99 per item, read 24 September 2026, and no page on tapet.app prints a price or says what the top item is. The $399.99 is the Play maximum across everything it sells, not a price you are asked to pay.
Only one developer on this page documents offline use: Tapet, whose homepage meta description reads Offline, private, one-time purchase, read 23 September 2026, which fits an app that generates wallpapers on the phone rather than downloading them. None of the other ten listing descriptions uses the word offline, and none of their developer pages read for this article claims it. That is silence rather than a no: the other ten do not document offline use, which is not the same as saying they fail without a connection.

Two of the eleven print the Play Pass line on their United States listings: Backdrops and Pixel 4D, whose pages say the app can be enjoyed free of ads and in-app purchases with a Google Play Pass subscription. The other nine listings do not print it, read 23 September 2026. For a Play Pass subscriber those two are the only apps here where the Contains ads label and the purchase range both fall away.
No listing says. A keyword pass over all eleven saved United States listing pages on 23 September 2026 found no use of the word watermark, and none of the developer pages read for this article mentions one.
